Din guide

  • Kati Knox is an artist and an internationally certified Yoga teacher who also holds a masters degree in Poetry and Literature from Mills College in Oakland, California.

Born in Berkeley, California she was first introduced to the Krishnamacharya lineage of Yoga by her beloved teacher and mentor Alice Joanou, with whom she did a five-year apprenticeship. Since 2016 Kati has lived in Umeå where she teaches weekly yoga classes, raises a family, plays in her band, makes art and gardens. She is also a librarian in training.

Her classes are guided by aligning breath and movement, creating the space for the practitioner to tap in to their own ability to heal. She remains dedicated to tradition while adapting and evolving to the needs of every day life. With a background in music and poetry, Kati sees the practice as creative and alive, something that transcends life on and off the mat.

“I believe in the healing power of community, in accountability to the self, and in our innate ability to heal and thrive as humans - as life continues to bring us joys and sorrows.” - Kati Knox

Kati's yogic journey took her to India, where she trained further as an instructor and yogic scholar and assisted master teachers in Kerala. Kati has returned to India several times since, both to deepen her study and training of yoga and also because of her love for India. She taught yoga in the San Francisco Bay Area from 2010-2016 and has since been teaching in the North of Sweden.

Her method is simple; it is about connection. Connect with yourself, connect with your breath, create the space inside needed to clear the mind and heart, to gather the tools to help us navigate overwhelming feelings and times. As a mother, an artist, a poet, and a teacher she can help inspire others to carve out the time and space needed for themselves to feel less suffering and more creativity and peace in life.
